If you know me, you know I’m a planner. So Christmas in July means to me that it’s time to start planning for the holidays. It specifically means planning out my family Christmas cards.
Being a photographer I prefer photo holiday cards. This means I need to start planning the photo shoot and card design. I also prefer to have my photos taken in the Fall. Here in Indiana, Fall is a lovely time for pictures as you get the changing colors. But photographers book up quickly this time of year so July is a great time to schedule your Fall session.
Before going into your photo shoot it’s helpful to know what design or color scheme you would like to use for your holiday card as you can then plan your location and outfits to match.
This year I’m going to be using Basic Invite for my holiday cards. While the name leads you to think their invites are simple that is anything but true. They have over 250 designs for holiday cards alone. They also allow you to make unique designs that include silver and gold foils and 30 different color envelopes. My favorite of all their services is that you can order a proof of the exact custom card that you design. I don’t know of any other online Christmas cards where you can do that!
If you are even further ahead of the planning game then I am Basic Invite is having a Christmas in July sale. Here is the promo code to receive 30% off – holi30
If you aren’t ready to purchase your holiday cards (don’t worry, that’s normal!). You might want to start planning. Be sure to schedule your Fall photo session and start looking though Christmas card designs to see if there is anything that catches your eye.
Happy holiday planning!
